Don received his Ph.D from the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Waterloo , Canada in 1993. He joined the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics at SUNY Stony Brook as an assistant professor for two years. In 1995, he joined Bell Laboratories (formerly AT&T and now Lucent Technologies) in the Statistics Research Department.

His research interests include:

• Industrial experimental designs,
• Quality improvement through experimentations and data analysis,
• Combinatorial design of experiments,
• Signal processing and speech recognition,
• Pattern classification and artificial intelligence,
• Graphical methods for large data analysis.
• Data Mining
• Internet traffic measurement and analysis
