LOCFIT for S-Plus versions 5 and 6, Compiled Distributions.

Download and save the compiled distribution file:
- Linux.
- Sun OS.
- SGI/IRIX.
To make Locfit available to all users on your system, save the archive in $SHOME/library.
Unpack the archive:
```
      gunzip locfit-xxx.tgz
      tar -xvf locfit-xxx.tar
```
with xxx replaced by linux, sunos or sgi as appropriate.
Start S-Plus 5 or S-Plus 6. Attach the Locfit library with
```
> library("locfit",first=T)
```
(use a lib.loc argument if necessary).

(Optional) Add the line

      locfit       Local Regression and Likelihood

to the file $SHOME/library/README.

The binary distributions were compiled with S-Plus 6.0 (Linux 2.0.31, SunOS 5.5) and S-Plus 5.1 (SGI, IRIX 6.2). In all cases, the distributions should be compatible with both S-Plus 5 and S-Plus 6. Please let me know of any problems.
