Claude Shannon's 1948 paper ``A Mathematical Theory of Communication,''
founded Information Theory. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of its
publication,
the
Mathematical Sciences Center
of Bell Laboratories
Lucent Technologies
held a one day symposium. The symposium also included
a session to honor the memory of late Aaron Wyner. We are
honored that the following distinguished information theorists
agreed to give talks.
