You will need Plan9, or at least some kind of Unix, plus some knowledge of 'join', 'sort', and 'awk' commands to get full power of the database. DOS/Windows/Mac users can fiddle with source and generated tables, e.g., in Access. No support of SQL is intentional: learn 'awk' instead - you'll get the power of 'regular expressions', plus a full-blown programming language.
This database is aimed at the users that intend to use it together with their own tables locally. If you are willing to melt your left mouse button in a web based application, this database is probably not for you: use, e.g., www.stratigraphy.org instead.
